Yesterday was Tanabata, the Star Festival. Walking through the streets, I saw bamboo decorations placed everywhere, adorned with colorful tanzaku strips. Looking at these wishes, I felt my heart swell with warmth.
There were so many hopes written down—dreams for the future, prayers for family happiness, and heartfelt wishes for world peace. Seeing so many people honestly expressing their hopes reminded me that, deep down, we all share the same desire for a brighter, kinder world.
The tradition of Tanabata is a beautiful reminder that our dreams and wishes are like seeds. By putting them into words yesterday and tying them to the bamboo, we took a collective step to nurture those dreams into reality.
Even though yesterday has passed, the wishes remain. Just like an incubator nurtures a life, may our wishes be nurtured by the warmth of our daily efforts.
What was your wish for this year? Let’s keep nurturing our dreams, just as we nurture the seeds in our gardens.
