July 7th is a special night in Japan known as “Tanabata,” or the Star Festival. It’s a day when we write our deepest wishes on colorful strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches, hoping they will reach the stars.
Legend says that on this night, two separated lovers—Orihime and Hikoboshi—can finally meet again. It is a romantic story of hope, patience, and the power of believing in something beautiful.
As adults, we often forget to dream or make wishes. We get busy with our daily routines, sometimes losing sight of the “spark” that makes life vibrant. But Tanabata is a gentle reminder to pause. If you could write a wish on a star today, what would it be?
For me, I find my own way of “wishing” through my craft—by choosing colors that inspire me and creating things with my own two hands. Whether it’s designing jewelry with pressed flowers or teaching a Japanese lesson, these moments of creativity are my way of bringing light into the world.
Your life is a story that only you can write, and you have the power to color it in your own way. If you feel like you’ve lost your way or are looking for a little more inspiration, I’d love to share my journey with you.
May your wishes reach the stars this Tanabata. ✨
