Yesterday, while waiting for the bus, I sat on a bench and was suddenly approached by a woman in her 80s. She began sharing her life story with me.
“I don’t use makeup, and I don’t dye my hair,” she said. “How old do you think I am?” (Even though she had already told me her age just moments before!)
She talked for about 15 minutes. It felt like watching a short movie and hearing a piece of Rakugo all at once. By the end, she smiled and said, “Let’s meet again. Please talk to me next time!”
In my mind, I couldn’t help but chuckle and think, “But… you were the one who started the conversation!”
It was such a quirky, unexpected encounter. It made me realize how many different people walk through our lives. It’s a strange and beautiful happiness to witness such moments.
