Have you ever heard of “Yatagarasu,” the sacred bird of Japanese mythology? Many of you might recognize him as the three-legged crow depicted on the jerseys of Japan’s national football team.
In ancient Japanese myths, Yatagarasu is revered as a “divine guide” who safely led people to their destinations when they were lost in the dark or deep within treacherous mountains.
While there are many theories as to why he has three legs, one beautiful belief is that they represent “Heaven (the divine),” “Earth (nature),” and “Humanity.” It signifies that the gods, Mother Nature, and we humans are all siblings born from the same sun, deeply connected and living in harmony with one another. This wonderful worldview is beautifully embodied within those three legs.
Your “Inner Compass” Guiding You to the Future
When we face a turning point in life or feel a bit lost in our daily choices, we often find ourselves looking frantically at the outside world—searching for the “right answer” through endless information or others’ opinions.
But the “guiding crow” who truly knows the path you should take is actually within your own heart. Your intuition—that quiet feeling of “Oh, I want to go this way” or “This feels right to me”—is the sacred navigator that will lead you out of the darkness.
By the way, Yatagarasu is also featured in my own logo. ✨
