There is a sort of contradiction that I often feel lingering in my heart.

On one hand, there are foreign visitors who come to Japan to travel, embracing and delighting in the beauty of our culture. On the other hand, we sometimes see news of littering, manners violations, or even crimes committed by some foreign residents in Japan.

Japan is inherently a safe country with a deep sense of peace. Because of that, whenever I see such news, I sometimes find myself wondering: “What is the real value of the work I am doing?”

I want to share the charm of Japan. I want people to come to love this country. Yet, simply living here isn’t enough if the spirit of respect is lost. If people choose to live in Japan, they should honor its laws and the harmonious spirit of Wa. It is simply not right for crimes to be committed here.

Even so, I want to keep believing. By acknowledging our differences, searching for common ground, and connecting heart-to-heart, we can move forward. It may be a small step, but I believe true peace and harmony can only be built upon that kind of sincere, daily connection.
