Are you becoming more mindful of what goes into your body as you embrace your mid-30s and 40s?
Recently, my journey toward a healthier lifestyle led me to a simple yet profound realization. We spend so much time choosing organic ingredients, but how often do we think about the tools we use to cook them? I decided it was time to flip the script in my kitchen and finally changed my frying pan.
From “Convenience” to “Connection”
For years, I chose pans based on convenience—non-stick coatings that promised easy cleanup. But as I’ve grown to value authenticity in my relationships and my work, I wanted that same honesty in my cooking.
Switching to a high-quality, non-toxic alternative (like cast iron or professional-grade ceramic) felt like a rite of passage. Yes, it might require a bit more “stoicism” to maintain, but the results are undeniable. The food tastes deeper, and more importantly, I have the peace of mind knowing that no hidden chemicals are leaching into my family’s meals.
The “Reverse” Philosophy in the Kitchen
Just like the “Winning Strategy” I shared for love, health often requires us to do the opposite of what is easy:
- The Stoic Cook: If you’ve been rushing through meals, the “reverse” is to slow down and enjoy the ritual of seasoning your pan.
- The Busy Professional: If you’ve been neglecting your kitchen, the “reverse” is to invest in one beautiful tool that makes you want to stand at the stove.
Everything is Connected
In Japan, we have a deep respect for the tools that support our daily lives. By caring for my new pan, I am practicing Self-Love. When you nourish your body with intention, you radiate a different kind of energy—the kind that attracts beautiful things into your life.
Your kitchen is the heart of your “Ibasho” (the place where you belong). What small change can you make today to honor your health?
