My Complexities and a Little Bit of Clumsiness

I have a few complexes hidden deep in my heart.

First is my voice. About 20 years ago, a teacher once told me, “Your voice sounds like you grew up utterly spoiled.” That remark left a deep scar on my chest and still hurts to this day. Ever since then, I’ve tried to be mindful not to speak too much. Though, my husband often tells me I talk plenty (laughs).

Second is being stubborn or rigid in my thinking. Whether I was taught this by my father or simply absorbed it along the way, I still believe that “efforts should never be shown to others.” Because of that, I push myself to work hard and study until I am truly satisfied and understand things completely. As a result, people around me might view me as a bit selfish or inflexible.

Third is my careless/easygoing side. If you’ve ever looked at my cooking photos, you might have already guessed, but I am quite sloppy when it comes to meals (laughs). My dining table usually features only about three or four dishes. Deep down, I actually think to myself, “It would look so much nicer if I chopped things a bit finer,” or “I really should put more effort into choosing nice tableware…” (laughs).

I’m far from perfect, but that’s who I am. I hope to keep walking hand-in-hand with my little complexes for a long time to come.
