Today, I’d like to share a wonderful little moment from my afternoon. I received a special treat from my mother—homemade Yomogi Mochi (mugwort rice cakes).
To tell you the truth, I had actually begged her for them a few days ago, gently hinting, “I would love to eat your yomogi mochi soon!” And today, my wish finally came true. The moment I opened the wrapping, the refreshing, earthy aroma of fresh mugwort filled the air.
I quickly brewed a cup of green tea and couldn’t resist taking a big bite right away.
“Ah… this is the one!”
It was so incredibly delicious that the words just slipped out of my mouth before I even realized it.
The vibrant green mochi is perfectly chewy, and the gentle sweetness of the red bean paste pairs beautifully with the rich, natural flavor of the mugwort. With every bite, I felt a deep sense of happiness.
There is something truly comforting about my mother’s cooking that you just can’t find at a store. Having looked forward to this for days made the taste even more rewarding.
Thank you so much, Mom, for the wonderful treat. It turned out to be the perfect, heartwarming teatime.
