Living a life that involves so many ups and downs, I often find myself striving to do my best in everything—including cooking every single meal.
But yesterday, I decided to do something different. I opted for takeout for everything.
It was a surprisingly liberating feeling. I was actually a little shocked at myself, thinking, “Is it really okay to have days where I don’t cook at all?” But deep down, I realized it was more than just okay—it was necessary.
We get so caught up in our daily routines and the pressure to keep things “perfect” that we sometimes forget to be kind to ourselves. Giving myself the permission to take a break from the kitchen didn’t make me lazy; it made me human. It allowed me to step back, take a breath, and simply enjoy the evening without the stress of chores.
Whether it’s dealing with neighbors, watering my seedlings, or deciding what to have for dinner, my heart is always running on a busy rollercoaster (laughs). But acknowledging that it’s okay to let go of the reins sometimes is a vital part of finding balance.
Today, I’m feeling recharged and ready to appreciate the little things again. Remember: you don’t have to be perfect. Sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is to simply let go.
