Creating a Harmonious Future Together

Reflections on Living Well, Mutual Respect, and Global Peace

I sincerely wish for world peace. Just as I love traveling to different countries around the world, I

warmly welcome people from all over to visit Japan and grow to love this country as much as I

do.

That is why it brings me deep sadness and concern when I read recent news about incidents

caused by a small number of individuals who disregard local rules—such as property damage or

theft. It weighs heavily on my heart.

At the same time, I know there are so many sincere and wonderful people from overseas who

live and travel here with genuine respect. Because of this, it feels heartbreaking when the

actions of a few lead to broad generalizations or unfair labels against an entire group of people.

If our children or grandchildren were to travel abroad one day only to be unfairly judged or

excluded due to prejudice, it would break my heart. I deeply hope we never head toward such a

divided world.

No matter our nationality or culture, let us honor one another’s safe spaces (Ibasho) and

shared rules so we can live together in peace, trust, and mutual respect.

Cultures and traditions were originally created to foster human happiness and connection. Now

more than ever, let us open our hearts to thoughtful dialogue and consider how we can build a

future where everyone feels valued and understood.
