A Happy Time Spent at Home

I love the joy of dining out, but lately, I’ve realized that the peaceful moments spent at home might just be the greatest luxury of all.

Today, I made negitoro (minced tuna with green onions) at home using frozen tuna. The process—thawing the tuna, carefully mincing it with a knife, chopping fresh aromatics, and arranging it all on my favorite plates—became a moment of mindfulness. There is a unique joy in the preparation itself.

While the flavor was easily on par with any restaurant, it was the atmosphere that made it truly special. Sharing the same table with my family, enjoying a meal together in the comfort of our own home… I realized that this is the essence of my Ibasho (my place of belonging). It’s not just about what we eat, but who we are with and the care we put into creating our space that turns a simple meal into something extraordinary.

Creating these small, intentional moments at home gives me the energy to face each new day.

How do you like to spend your precious time at home? I’d love to hear your stories of finding happiness in the everyday.
