✨ TITLE: Why “Odd Numbers” are Cheering for Us: It’s Okay Not to Have All the Answers! ✨
Hey, how did you feel after reading about the White Stars last time? I really hope it gave you even a little boost!
In our age group, it feels like everyone around us is getting married, advancing their careers, and generally showing off a “perfect answer.” It makes you a little anxious, like you’re the only one stuck in place.
The Sumo World Loves “Odd Numbers”
In the world of Sumo, they are seriously obsessed with Odd Numbers (Kisuu).
- The main tournaments (Honbasho) last 15 days.
- The ceremonial tassels (Sagari) that wrestlers wear? They always have an odd number of them, for good luck. (They think “Even numbers = numbers that can be divided” are bad luck because they connect to dividing/splitting the ring, which means losing! So intense…)
A number that cannot be divided = An Odd Number.
In Japanese culture, this idea of “being indivisible” is actually considered “good luck” (Engi ga ii).
It’s Okay If Your Life Can’t Be Divided.
Right now, if you don’t have that one “perfect answer” (the divisible, even number) for your job or your future, that is totally fine!
- You’re not enjoying every day (indivisible anxiety).
- You’re not sure if you really love your job (indivisible doubt).
- Your life isn’t perfect like your friends’ (indivisible reality).
This very “indivisible haze” you’re feeling is actually the odd number cheering for your life, saying, “You’re still going! There’s still so much potential!”
Because it’s “indivisible,” there’s still space for new possibilities to emerge.
A perfectly divided life would be boring. Because, well, the end would already be in sight, wouldn’t it?
Life is much, much longer than a 15-day sumo tournament.
So, for now, why don’t you embrace that “indivisible odd number” of feeling lost, stop rushing, and enjoy the journey of finding your own White Star?
