🌸 Sumo Blog: A Message to You 🌸

✨ TITLE: How to Turn Your Boring Routine into a “White Star” Victory ✨

Hey, how’s life treating you right now?

Lately, seeing my friends get married or advance their careers, I just feel like I’m “walking a predetermined path.” Every day is the same old thing, and I’m totally losing the fun in the “now.”

When I go to work, I’m just going through the motions. It feels like this “grey daily routine,” right?

Winning? Losing? What’s the Big Deal?

When a sumo match ends, they look at the wrestlers’ scorecards, called Hoshitori-hyo (star record). They’re full of circles:

  • ⚫️ Black Circle (Kuroboshi)Loss
  • ⚪️ White Circle (Shiroboshi)Win

Calling a win a “White Star” (Shiroboshi) is actually pretty deep, don’t you think?

White is More Than Just a “Win.”

Do you know why ancient Japanese people chose white instead of black for a win?

  1. It’s like the Sunrise! It’s the “Color of Hope” that breaks through the darkness (black), symbolizing the start of a brand new day.
  2. The Old Recording Method: They recorded losses with black ink, but wins were recorded with white chalk or powder.

I’m not saying you need to become a sumo fan right now. But listen, even within our boring, “black daily routine,” there are definitely moments when we can draw our own “White Circles of Hope.”

When you manage to be kind to someone, even during a boring work day. When you truly enjoy a meal alone. When you get totally pumped up listening to your favorite music.

The “Hoshitori-hyo” (Star Record) of your life is something we get to create.

It’s totally okay to have a day where you think, “Ugh, that was a Black Star.” But tomorrow, let’s go out and try to earn just one White Star for ourselves. Just one is enough.

I hope you and I can both earn a tiny “White Star” for ourselves today!
